Basamti Rice is a long grain rice with a high fiber content. Substitute this rice wherever a recipe calls for brown rice...great flavor and aroma.
Place 1 cup of rice and 1.5 cups of water in a pot with a lid. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 min. Season as desired and fluff with fork before serving. 1 cup dry yields 2.5-3 cups cooked.
Basmati can be used whenever a long grain White Rice is needed. It's most often used in South Asian cooking. The nutty flavor and firm texture go well with spicy curries and stir fry. A good choice for stews and soups.
