The Ancho is a mild chile, sweet chile pepper that is ground and used to make chili powder. Ground Ancho Chile Pepper is also a nice garnish for sauces and egg dishes. To make your own ancho chili powder, use 1/2 cup ground Ancho chile, 1 TBSP each garlic powder, onion powder, cumin and oregano. Add salt, cayenne pepper and ground thyme to taste.
