Jasmine Rice, sometimes called "Thai fragrant rice," is long-grain white rice highly prized for its flowery aroma and sweet flavor. Jasmine Rice is sometimes suggested as an alternative to Basmati Rice, another highly fragrant, long-grain rice from its native Thailand (and elsewhere throughout Southeast Asia).

Bring 1 cup rice and 1-1/2 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Reduce heat, cover and simmer about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Fluff with fork before serving.
